De Ligt has enjoyed a sensational campaign as he led Ajax to the domestic double in the recently concluded 2018/19 season. The Dutch giants shocked the world as they outperformed European heavyweights to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
For his country, the wonderkid helped Netherlands reach the final of the inaugural UEFA Nations League by scoring in his country's 3-1 win over England in the semi-finals. But their Nations League campaign ended on a bitter note as they lost to Portugal in the finals.
After losing in the finals, De Ligt admitted that he is yet to make a decision on his future.
"I don't mind that. The transfer period starts in a while, so I will first go on a nice vacation and rest. I will let it happen and then I will see."
It is an open secret that top clubs across Europe are interested in securing De Ligt, owing to his spectacular displays. Known for his defensive capabilities, De Ligt has also proven himself to be a capable leader for his club.
The heart of the matter
According to the report, PSG are now favourites to secure the services of De Ligt. The Ajax star is not at all convinced with the offer from the Catalan giants and he is also not impressed with the sporting guarantees at the Nou Camp.
As a result, the 19-year-old is one step closer to sign for the Ligue 1 giants. Former sporting director Leonardo is set to return for PSG and he has played a pivotal role in swaying De Ligt's decision about his future.
Moreover, Leanardo has a good relationship with De Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola and PSG is convinced that they can make an offer which will suit both parties.
