Atletico Madrid calm about signing James Rodriguez this summer
Il Rojiblancos are taking things slow and remain calm about signing James Rodriguez now that the Premier League transfer window is closed and several big spenders have been eliminated from the race to sign the Colombian international.
Diego Simeone has already overseen the arrival of quite a few stellar players. However, he is not entirely satisfied and wants to top it off by signing James Rodriguez who spent the last 2 years on loan at Bayern Munich.
Rodriguez is reportedly not a part of Zinedine Zidane's plans for the 2019-20 season and Real Madrid did offer him as a makeweight in a deal to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United. As such, they're open to selling James Rodriguez. However, they do not want to end up strengthening their rivals.
That being said, Real Madrid may be forced to sell Rodriguez to Atletico if no other potential buyers show up before the end of the summer transfer window.
