#3 Lazio's non-existent defense served as the blueprint for their battering

It took just 31 minutes for Inzaghi to reshuffle his defense against Bayern Munich but the Lazio manager could well have taken off all his defenders.

While not taking away anything from the quality of the Bayern Munich attack, their job was made much easier by the poor defending of the hosts.

You are more likely to find better defending in Sunday league football than what was shown by top-level professionals on a Champions League night.

Right from the blast of the whistle, the Lazio defenders seemed to be on a kamikaze mission, and it took just nine minutes for the first mistake to be made.

This set the template for the rest of the game to follow, and the ease with which Bayern Munich sliced through the defense was rather shocking to watch.

The Bavarians operate at the highest levels, and defenders have to show optimum concentration for 90 minutes to keep Robert Lewandowski and co. quiet.

A failure to do so more often than not results in a whitewash, which proved to be the case at the Stadio Olimpico.

#2 Quiet Immobile fails to come to the fore

Ciro Immobile has been Lazio's talisman for the last five seasons, playing a key role in the successes enjoyed since then.

The 31-year-old's exploits saw him win a maiden European Golden Shoe in the last campaign, with 36 goals, and he has been in fine form this season.

It was expected that he would lead Lazio's charge against Bayern Munich. However, the Italy international failed to make a genuine mark in the game.

Lazio fashioned several good chances but were let down by poor decision-making in the final third.

In total, Immobile had three shots, with just one of those on target. This is a far cry from the output we have come to expect from him.

#1 Robert Lewandowski gets into the record books

Robert Lewandowski's goals were the driving force behind Bayern Munich's utter dominance last season, and the Poland international has continued from where he left off this term.

His awareness and technique were on full display as he anticipated Mussachio's under-hit pass and rounded Reina to tap into an empty net.

The goal was his 32nd from just 31 games in all competitions this season, with four of his goals coming on the continent.

It took him to 72 goals overall in the UEFA Champions League, overtaking the legendary Raul Gonzalez to sit third on the all-time standings.

Only the iconic duo of Lionel Messi (119) and Cristiano Ronaldo (134) sit above him.
