Highly-rated defender Diego Novaretti has made a switch from Mexican side Toluca to Italian outfit Lazio.
The 28-year-old Argentinian arrives as a free agent and is expected to undergo a medical with the club and will become their first signing of the new season.
Novaretti, was on the radar of former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini. But post his departure, the club lost interest in the defender.
The defender expressed his surprise at being picked by Lazio. “My purchase was a surprise. I hope to be a surprise for Lazio,” he said upon his arrival.
Lazio finished in a commanding sixth position this season in the Serie A.
