As Liverpool locked horns with Arsenal in the standout fixture of the weekend, Arsenal fell short once again as the Reds proved too hot to handle.

Jurgen Klopp's men registered a routine 3-1 victory and in the balance of play, Liverpool were by far the better side as they dominated proceedings right from the get-go.

Nicolas Pepe made his first start in an Arsenal shirt after his rerecord-breaking breaking move from Lille and although the Ivorian looked lively in the opening exchanges, he failed to make an impact in the game.

Arsenal held Liverpool at bay and looked to be heading into the break with a clean sheet but Joel Matip's header of Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner gave the Reds the advantage shortly before the half-time whistle.

David Luiz completed a controversial switch from Chelsea this summer and the new signing had a torrid time, as Mohamed Salah devastated him throughout the second half.

The Egyptian put Liverpool in the driving seat with an emphatic penalty, after Luiz was adjudged to have brought him down in the penalty area.

Salah then put the icing on the cake with a sensational solo effort and the Brazilian was the victim once again, as last season's Golden Boot winner left him for dead in the buildup.

Lucas Torreira came on as a late substitute and scored what turned out to be a consolation goal for the Gunners after Liverpool failed to clear the ball in the penalty area.

Liverpool registered yet another victory against Arsenal and are currently the only team in the Premier League with their 100% record intact.

As the Gunners fell flat at Anfield once again, let's look at some of the hits and flops from the game.

#1 Flop David Luiz

David Luiz had a torrid outing as the Gunners failed to beat Liverpool yet again. The experienced defender was decimated by the Liverpool attack in the second-half as Mohamed Salah's brace put the game beyond reasonable doubt.

The former Chelsea man conceded a penalty and was involved in the build-up to Liverpool's third goal, as Salah comfortably waltzed past him to score his second of the game.

Liverpool's attackers proved too much to handle for the Brazilian and at the end of the day, he was directly responsible for both goals the Gunners conceded in the second half.

#2 Hit: Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah was in the thick of the action once again as Liverpool registered a routine victory against a hapless Arsenal side.

Although Liverpool went into the interval with a 1-0 goal courtesy of a Joel Matip goal, Salah was relatively quiet as Arsenal kept him at bay.

The Egyptian came out all guns blazing in the second half and made a defining contribution as Liverpool continued their perfect start to the Premier League season.

After being brought down by David Luiz in the penalty area, Salah himself stepped and converted the spot-kick in emphatic fashion to put the Reds 2-0 up.

Later in the second half, Salah put the game beyond reasonable doubt as his sensational solo strike virtually sealed the game for the home side.

Salah has carried on from where he left off last season and his brilliant brace against a fellow top-six side will come as a massive boost for Jurgen Klopp.

#3 Hit: Joel Matip

Joel Matip was chosen to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defense and the Cameroonian centre-half made defining contributions in both ends of the pitch.

Matip was one of the standout players as the Reds strolled to another victory in the Premier League. The 28-year-old put in an assured performance at the back and broke the deadlock shortly before the half-time whistle.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's brilliant corner was met by the former Schalke man for the opening goal of the game. Matip rose highest to register a thumping header past Bernd Leno's despairing dive, allowing Liverpool to take initiative of the game.

Added to his goal, Matip looked imperious at the back and although Torreira's late goal prevented the Reds from registering a clean sheet, his performance was commendable, to say the least.

Matip's brilliant early season form makes him an important member of the squad as Liverpool look to compete on all fronts this season.

#4 Hit: Roberto Firmino

The trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah unsurprisingly lead the line for Liverpool and produced a brilliant performance as Arsenal had no answers to their prowess in front of goal.

Although Mohamed Salah stole the show with his two-goal heroics, Firmino was in the thick of the action once again.

The Brazilian didn't get his name on the score-sheet but his off the ball movement and defensive work-rate played a key role in Liverpool's victory.

Firmino was at his brilliant best once again and his ability to combine technical ability with his tireless work-rate has made him a strong fan-favorite among the Liverpool faithful.

The former Hoffenheim man has been described by Jurgen Klopp as the engine of the team and his performance against Arsenal is a clear indication of his manager's comments.

Firmino was withdrawn in favor of Adam Lallana late in the second half to a standing ovation and the Brazilian's early season form is a massive boost for the Reds.

#5 Flop: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

As Arsenal arrived at Anfield in an attempt to cause an upset and continue their 100% record in the Premier League at the expense of Liverpool's, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to live up to expectations on the night.

The Gabonese international lead the line alongside new signing Nicolas Pepe but he was largely ineffective as the Gunners were beaten once again by the reigning European champions.

Aubameyang was kept at bay by the Liverpool rear-guard and was left isolated for large parts of the game, as Mohamed Salah took the game away from the visitors with a brilliant brace in a whirlwind 10-minute spell in the second half.

Aubameyang was one of the triumvirate of golden boot winners on show but the Arsenal hit-man failed to make an impression despite starting the season strongly.
