Liverpool leads the table with three wins from their first three matches this season, without conceding a single goal. They are also looking quite strong after their win against defending champions Manchester United at Anfield. But there is more good news for the Liverpool supporters.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and manager Brendan Rodgers have won the Barclays Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards for the month of August. Sturridge has been instrumental in his team’s dream start to the season by scoring all of Liverpool’s goals so far. The striker has been an absolute gem for the team after Brendan Rodgers secured his services from Chelsea for around £12 million in the January transfer window this year.

Brendan Rogers won his first Manager of the Month award in January 2012 when he was in charge at Swansea. But this will be the Irish manager’s first award after succeeding Kenny Dalglish as the Liverpool boss. The season’s start was quite complex for the manager with the retirement of Jamie Carragher, the transfer of Pepe Reina and also the Luis Suarez transfer saga. But Rodgers was able to successfully manage his team and the recent success is a clear indication of the great things to be expected in the future.

Liverpool will face Swansea City on Monday and both Sturridge and Rodgers will be hoping that they can continue their golden form in the Premier League.
