Liverpool fail with loan bid for Barcelona striker David Villa

FC Barcelona v SL Benfica - UEFA Champions League

La Liga leaders, Barcelona are not going to entertain the idea of loaning David Villa, the superb striker who was brought to Camp Nou in 2010 from Valencia for a record £40m. According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona are considering selling David Villa in the January transfer window instead of loaning him out.

According to rumours, he wants to leave for the Barclays Premier League due to lack of playing opportunities. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has targeted the Spanish striker for a better forward line. The manager thinks that he could play in the 4-3-3 formation which would include Villa, Suarez and Daniel Sturridge upfront.

However, Barcelona are demanding at least £16m for Villa and Liverpool is not the only club eyeing him. Arsenal boss Wenger is also linked with the 31-year-old striker and wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. Alongside Wenger, Chelsea‘s interim manager, Rafa Benitez has also been in touch with the Spanish star but a move to Stamford Bridge is unlikely.
