Liverpool legend Ian Rush wants Daniel Sturridge to start ahead of Luis Suárez

Liverpool‘s top goal-scorer of all time, Ian Rush, wants Daniel Sturridge to continue playing as a sole striker even after Luis Suárez comes back into the team. Suarez is currently serving his 10 match ban for biting Chelsea‘s Branislav Ivanovi?.

“For me, in an ideal world after six games of the season when Suarez is back, I’d love to see him left out because that would mean the team is winning and he has to fight for his place.”

“There’s no doubt Suarez will get back in, but what a sight that would be for the opposition if Liverpool are not playing well and they see Suarez coming on. We’re looking forward to that,” – the Welshman revealed to talkSPORT.

Daniel Sturridge played a pivotal role as the sole striker this season, scoring all 3 Liverpool goals which have taken them to the top of the league table.

The Reds’ forward was ruled out of England’s world cup qualifier against Ukraine with a thigh injury. But, they are hopeful of his return against Swansea.
