BENITEZ AND LIVERPOOL PART WAYS
In a shock declaration last night , Liverpool FC confirmed that they have parted ways with Rafael Benitez after six long years at the helm . The club have negotiated a settlement with the 50-year-old to end his tenure after six years at Anfield. The move comes after Liverpool had a horrendous season in charge of Liverpool failing to take the club to champions league qualification next season , finishing in 7thplace . reports ofBenitez and Liverpool mutually agreeing to part ways had surfaced long ago but the rumours were always put to rest by the Spaniard himself .
Benitez told the club’s website, www.liverpoolfc.tv: “It is very sad for me to announce that I will no longer be manager of Liverpool FC.
“I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts. I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool.

Benitez’s relationship with American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett had become increasingly strained and rumours began circulating that he was to be shown the door on Wednesday evening. A good compensation package was being agreed upon by Liverpool for Benitez who had signed a lucrative contract in 2009 .
Benitez was refused a substantial amount of transfer kitty this season and was told to sell players to buy new ones . This had infuriated benitez who never wanted his key players to move out of Anfield . Further disappointing performances and the trouble of the club off the pitch were the various reasons for which benitez was “ sacked” , a club which he called his “ home “ . Benitez had always a special love for this club ever since the time stepping onto England . The support of the loyal Liverpool supporters towards Benitez during the bad time meant he was a huge crowd favourite .
Benitez have had a successful overall stint at the club . He delivered the champions league in his first year in charge followed by the FA cup in 2006 . He also took Liverpool to the verge of winning the title last season .
Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton said: “Rafa will forever be part of Liverpool folklore after bringing home the Champions League following the epic final in Istanbul but after a disappointing season both parties felt a fresh start would be best for all concerned.”
The search for a suitable successor begins with Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish becoming the top choice . however Guus Hiddink , Martin O Neill and Roy Hodgeson are also being looked upon.
Although the termination will cost the club , Benitez would not be able to seek employment in other clubs right now according to a clause . However the book makers are widely betting on Rafa to take charge of Inter Milan sooner if not latter .
