What's the story?

Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, sent a brilliant message to teammate Virgil van Dijk after the Dutch defender won the PFA Players Player of the Year award.

In case you didn't know...

Dutch star, Van Dijk, has played a pivotal role for Liverpool this campaign, as he remains an asset at the heart of Liverpool's rearguard. Thanks to his exploits, The Reds have conceded the least number of goals in the Premier League this season.

Jurgen Klopp's men are just a point behind Manchester City on the league table with just two games remaining in the season. The 27-year-old has featured in all 36 Premier League games for Liverpool and received only one yellow card throughout the season.

Van Dijk joined Liverpool in the winter transfer window last year for a record fee of £75 million and featured in the Champions League final last season. There is no doubt about the fact that Liverpool's defence has been much more formidable since his arrival.

It goes without saying that players like Sterling, Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Hazard, and Mane are all having stellar campaigns but Van Dijk's impact has been massive. Van Dijk is also the first centre-back since John Terry in the 2004-05 season to win the award.

The heart of the matter

Mohamed Salah himself won the award 12 months ago and was quick to congratulate his teammate on winning the prestigious individual award. In fact, the Egyptian star revealed that Van Dijk won the award an hour before the official announcement was made.

After revealing that Van Dijk has won the award on his Twitter account, Salah congratulated his teammate in a hilarious way on Instagram.

He congratulated Van Dijk before saying,

"Just be careful you don't win all the awards this year...otherwise you know what will happen next year!"

What's next?

Liverpool will face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals next in the coming weeks. The Reds also have two games left in the Premier League where they face Newcastle and Wolves. Jurgen Klopp's men will face Newcastle in the weekend between the two legs of the semi-final clash against Barcelona.
