Rumour: Liverpool not giving up on Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno

Alberto Moreno: Transfer talks regarding the Sevilla left-back has cooled down in recent times.

Liverpool have still not given up on their pursuit of Spanish left back Alberto Moreno despite not reaching Sevilla’s valuation of the player, report The Liverpool Echo. The Echo report Liverpool could re-open talks with Sevilla.

Sevilla value the player at around £20 million but at the moment Liverpool have not reached that amount with their interest and now the club have said he will not be leaving.

However, the Echo report that Liverpool remain positive that a deal can be concluded, as Brendan Rodgers looks to add a world class left back to his ranks.

Rodgers has made the defence a top priority, despite continued interest in the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Xherdan Shaqiri, and he has targeted Moreno as his first choice, with Ryan Bertrand the second choice.

Moreno enjoyed a good breakout season with Sevilla this season and he earned himself a call up to Spain’s preliminary 30 man squad for the World Cup. He didn’t make the final cut but he spoke of his enjoyment at being around the national team.

Liverpool finished second in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the Champions League and Rodgers has said he wants to strengthen the squad ahead of the added games.
