Rumour: Journalist claims Liverpool are not interested in Manchester United target Mats Hummels

Despite some small rumours that are picking up pace, there seems to be no official interest from Liverpool in Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, according to the Liverpool ECHO.

<Hummels, 25, has been linked with Manchester United-- and Barcelona and could be set to follow Robert Lewandowski out of the door at Dortmund this summer. While it has been reported Hummels is Man United’s top defensive target. .

There were small murmurings on Twitter that Liverpool had an interest in Hummels, who has scored two goals at the World Cup this summer to help Germany to the tournament’s final, but the Liverpool ECHO’s Liverpool FC correspondent has quelled the rumours by stating that he has not heard anything re: interest in Hummels.

The Reds have already signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton and Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen, and are set to add Benfica’s Lazar Markovic and Southampton’s Dejan Lovren soon, too.
