Sebastian Giovinco: looking for pastures new

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race with Arsenal for the signature of out-of-favour Juventus forward, Sebastian Giovinco. Liverpool have been linked with a number of players this season, including Chelsea’s Ashley Cole, with Giovinco just another one supposedly on the list.

The pacey Italian has been heavily linked with a move away from the Old Lady after a tough season in which he has failed to play as often as he would have liked. The 27-year-old has been on the fringes of Antonio Conte’s first-team plans and the manager has opted for the likes of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente instead of Giovinco.

Liverpool are keen to bolster their front-line, despite having netted 101 goals last season. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge were in scintillating form, however, Brendan Rodgers has identified that he wants to bring in another forward to take the pressure off of his strike pair, particularly with the Reds playing Champions League football next season.

Giovinco’s agent Claudio Pasqualin admits that his client, whose contract expires in the summer of 2015, could be moving for pastures new with this window the last time Juventus can command a fee for the Italian.

Pasqualin told reporters: “Sebastian still has one more year on his contract.

“We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens.

“If the club come to us with an extension, then that’s fine. But if not, we’ll have a look round for other clubs.”
