Liverpool identify Virgil van Dijk's alternative

After a long transfer saga involving Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are expected to move on this January and look for alternative centre-back options. If reports from the Mirror are to be believed, the Reds could go after Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji.

Kara moved to the Belgian side in 2013 and since then, he has established himself as a key player in the side, helping his team to two first division titles and two Super Cups. A no-nonsense defender, he would add more muscle to the Liverpool back line and he is pretty quick for a defender, which should help Liverpool and Klopp as they play a high defensive line.

Kara plays for Senegal, so Sadio Mane could play an important role in persuading his compatriot!

Emre Can could sign a contract extension with the Reds

Emre Can

With just over a month to go before the winter transfer window reopens, Liverpool don't have much time to convince Emre Can into signing a new contract. The player himself revealed that he wants to stay at the club but will not settle for anything less than £150,000-a-week in wages.

Can is wanted by Serie A champions Juventus -- who tried to sign him up last summer only to be rebuffed by the Reds -- and current Premier League leaders Manchester City. Even if Liverpool aren't able to keep hold of him, the fans will hope they don't sell to a Premier League side.

The German international will be available for pre-contract negotiations in January and Liverpool will have to tie him down to a new contract before that just to make sure his head doesn't turn by offers from elsewhere.

After what appeared to be a health scare for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has returned to Melwood. Earlier, he had a health concern and went through a few tests, but it seems everything is normal now.

Liverpool have also been boosted by the return of Adam Lallana who is yet to feature in the league this season.

Lallana featured in a full training session and is in contention to make the Liverpool squad, if not start the game against his former club Southampton.
