What is the story?

According to the reports from French news publication L'Equipe, Inter Milan have made a shocking bid for Liverpool transfer target Nicolas Pepe.

With a plethora of clubs keeping their eyes on the situation, the Nicolas Pepe transfer saga has become one of the most discussed topics in media outlets.

In case you didn't know...

Nicolas Pepe, who has been linked heavily with a move to Liverpool, spent a honeymoon 2018-19 season for Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille.

His consistent glittering performances for his side saw the club finish the domestic campaign in the second position with 75 points from 38 matches.

Last season, in the French league, Pepe not only scored 22 goals but also provided 11 assists. He can play in both wings and can hit the ball perfectly with his both legs though he is also well known for his furious speed.

Liverpool have been monitoring the winger for a while now as Jurgen Klopp feels that his squad lacks a prolific winger. If we take a look at Jurgen's squad, we'll find that there is no backup winger for Sadio Mane. Hence, The Merseyside club is determined to fill that void in this summer transfer window.

The heart of the matter

Reports from L'Equipe have suggested that Inter Milan have placed a bid of £80m for the Lille star. A few weeks ago, Inter hired Antonio Conte as their new manager. In order to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title race next season, Conte is determined to sign a few big names. The Italian giants are said to be linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Diego Godin.

What is next?

As per the reports, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, and PSG are also interested in launching the 24-year-old attacking option this summer. Although Inter have lodged an enormous sum to sign the prolific winger, it seems like the Merseyside club will wrap up the deal at the business end of this ongoing transfer window.
