Chelsea youth and reserve team midfielder, Lucas Piazon, who has been very impressive this season has signed a contract extension with Chelsea untill 2017. Chelsea bought him in March 2011 for a sum of around 5 Million Pounds, but he was 17 at that time ,and thus he was not eligible to play for Chelsea’s first team. But, he’s finally turned 18 on the 20th of this month which allowed him to extend his professional contract.
He made his Debut for the Chelsea reserves against Fulham, and scored his first goal against Arsenal. The Brazilian has been deemed as the new ‘Kaka‘ by many, but it’s still early days for him. He has been a Chelsea supporter from a very young age and ever since, wanted to play for Chelsea. He started his Football Career with a Club called ‘Cortiba’.He graduated from the same Sao Paulo youth setup as former Blue Juliano Belletti, and also Brazilian legends Kaka and Cafu.
He has also joined the long list of Brazilian players, playing for Chelsea, currently.David Luiz,Alex and Ramires are the other Brazilians.
In a Interview,he said, “I think the Brazilian player at Chelsea who has helped me the most is David Luiz. We are here in his house, with Julio [Lucas and David Luiz's agent]. Alex and Ramires are very good guys too, they have helped me in this last week as I was training with them. We are making good friendships.”
He has already scored two goals in the five matches he played for the reserve team, and his future surely looks promising. All we can expect now is to see him in the first team soon enough.
