Will it, won’t it? The tale of Bale and United was one of the biggest sagas of the summer window and after the dust settled, the proposed move never materialized. But according to a recent report, Bale had given serious consideration to going through with the 100 Million move but decided against it primarily because of Real’s former manager.

When the offer came in Bale was very flattered and was probably favouring towards a move. Soon after that Rafa Benitez, who was sacked three weeks ago convinced him to stay. Under the Spaniard’s reign Bale enjoyed a good relationship with him and rediscovered his form. Since Rafa’s sacking the Welsh star had publicly stated he wanted him to stay.

Although more recently he is less tempted for a move to the red half of Manchester. The reasons being, the Welshman is concerned about the position of Louis Van Gaal as the manager of the club, the slow paced playing style as well as a possible absence of Champions league football next season.

Even if United were to make a bid for the winger, as Bale’s contract revealed earlier this week, Spurs will have the first option to buy him back. The clause further states that if any Premier Club is to buy the Welshman, then they need to inform Spurs, who will have to reply within three days. This clause on Bale’s contract will expire on the 30 June 2019. Madrid are however reportedly in contract extension talks to keep him at the Bernabeu.

The 26-year-old’s agent Jonathan Barnett has completely denied reports that Bale was considering a move to Manchester. He was quoted as saying,” The story is complete rubbish. We have never even discussed it”.

Bale’s Barcelona counterpart, Neymar, was also heavily linked with the Manchester-based club as they remain desperate to make a statement signing. Real have also maintained that they will not accept a €100 million bid and that he remains focused on staying at Madrid.

During his first season at Madrid, Bale won the Champions League, the Copa Del Rey, European Super cup as well as the Club World Cup. On the other hand, former sporting director at Camp Nou Andoni Zubizarreta has also recently stated Neymar is very happy and will not move from Barcelona in the near future.

United will have to continue the search for a marquee player after both their reported targets are happy where they are.
