Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris - 4/10

Hugo Lloris had a torrid night in goal.
Hugo Lloris had a torrid night in goal.

Has the time come to finally question whether Hugo Lloris is a guaranteed starter for Tottenham Hotspur or not? Perhaps, that discussion will come. Against Manchester City, he should've saved a couple of goals, and wasn't strong enough with his hands to keep a few of them out.

Japhet Tanganga - 6/10

The most inexperienced of the lot was also the most secure Tottenham Hotspur defender on show against Manchester City. Japhey Tangana was strong in the air and robust in tackles, as he shut out most creation outlets down his flank.

Davinson Sanchez - 4/10

Davinson Sachez got spun easily by Gundogan in the build-up to Manchester City's third goal. He also couldn't deal with the movement and intensity of pressing that the visitors had.

Eric Dier - 4/10

As the senior centre-back in the side, it was important for Eric Dier to stand tall if Tottenham Hotspur wanted to have a chance of winning this game. However, that wasn't the case on the night.

Ben Davies - 3/10

Ben Davies had a torrid time dealing with whoever drifted out to his flank. Both Foden and Sterling got the better of Davies for fun.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 5/10

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might still consider himself a tad unlucky to have conceded the penalty for a foul on Gundogan. In the game itself, Hojbjerg and Tottenham Hotspur were given a lesson by a superbly drilled opponent, though.

Tanguy Ndombele - 6/10

Tanguy Ndombele had a couple of exciting moments when he ran through the Manchester City midfield and took a few shots. He was the best player among a sorry bunch of Tottenham players on the night.

Erik Lamela - 5/10

Eric Lamela worked harder than anyone else in the Tottenham Hotspur team. However, the quality of Manchester City's playing squad told, with the Argentine never coming close enough to goal to cause a problem.

Lucas Moura - 4/10

Lucas Moura started behind Harry Kane, but couldn't provide any killer passes for the likes of the England captain or Son.

Son Heung-Min - 3/10

Son Heung-Min had a poor game. He didn't demand the ball enough on the Tottenham Hotspur left. That meant there was no way for Son to impact the game.

Harry Kane - 5/10

Harry Kane hit the post early in the game, but after that, he had more a running brief in the game. Tottenham Hotspur never provided him with accurate service. On the few rare occasions they did, he got overloaded by Manchester City defenders.

Ratings of Tottenham Hotspur Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko - 5/10

With Manchester City overloading the central areas, Tottenham Hotspur needed energy, and Sissoko was brought on at half-time for the same. However, he could do nothing to prevent Gundogan from running through and scoring twice.

Dele Alli - 3/10

Despite getting nearly 30 minutes of playing time, Dele Alli barely even got a touch of the ball in the game.

Gareth Bale - 6/10

Gareth Bale forced Ederson into a good save towards the end of the game. He looked sharp as well, which is a good sign for Tottenham Hotspur.
