David de Gea - 5.5/10

The first and third goals were close-range shots so we can give the Spaniard benefit of the doubt. But getting beaten at the near post is not acceptable from a goalkeeper of his stature.

Ashley Young - 6/10

Not playing in his natural position he was finding it really difficult to cope up with the likes of Mendy and Sterling operating down his channel.

Chris Smalling - 5/10

Very casual defending by him. You can't defend like that against an attack rich side like Manchester City. Very sloppy at times, he was lucky not to give away a penalty.

Victor Lindelof - 6/10

Compared to his other defending colleagues, he had a relatively peaceful first half. However, he got outwitted by Aguero as soon as the second half began.

Luke Shaw - 6/10

With Mahrez and Walker barraging forward he had plenty to deal with on his flank. He got cautioned by the ref while trying to contain Mahrez.

Nemanja Matic - 5.5/10

Another disappointing night for the Serbian. He hasn't really got going with United this season. His lack of agility made his life very tough against the City press.

Ander Herrera - 4.5/10

Right in the pole position for the worst performance of the night. The Spaniard failed to recreate his showing in Turin the other night. Often losing possession, he was another victim of the brilliant City press.

Marouane Fellaini - 5/10

He was brought into the side to relish the aerial opportunities but the big Belgian failed to do so. He did play his part of the defensive duties fairly well though.

Jesse Lingard - 4.5/10

If Herrera wasn't the worst performer of the night then Jesse Lingard definitely was. He seemed to have vanished for most of the game and he reappeared to gift the ball to City that led to the second goal. He was subbed off moments later.

Martial scored United's only goal on the night

Anthony Martial - 6.5/10

He converted the penalty from the spot to momentarily give United the hopes. But apart from that, he didn't produce anything significant due to the constant presence of Kyle Walker.

Marcus Rashford - 5.5/10

The only highlight from his game was the clever pass he made to Martial just before the halftime whistle. He looked isolated from the rest of the squad, occasionally running down the channels without any purpose.

Substitutes

Romelu Lukaku - 6/10

Made his mark as soon as he was subbed on by winning the penalty.

Juan Mata - 4/10

Failed to provide the much-needed energy to the team.

Alexis Sanchez - 4/10

His poor form continues as he failed to make an impact coming off the bench.
