Manchester City and Arsenal keeping tabs on £10m rated AZ Alkmaar midfielder

Manchester City have joined the race to sign Adam Maher from AZ Alkmaar. Arsenal are also reportedly interested in the midfielder, who is valued at £10m and expects to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Netherlands international was also invited by City’s director of football to attend a game at the Etihad. Reports say that City’s Samir Nasri may leave the club following an unsuccessful spell with the Citizens since his big move from Arsenal. Thus, Maher could fill in Nasri’s position.

Tottenham also had been scouting the 19-year-old but apparently the Spurs have given up on the starlet.

Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini still has title hopes.

He said: ‘It’s not impossible in football. One or two weeks can change everything.

‘For this reason we should be confident for the Premier League.

‘If they are so strong that they will win all their games then okay, but if they lose one or two games or a point then we should be ready to take this opportunity.’
