Crisis struck Russian super club Anzhi’s midfielder Willian is on the club’s transfer list, and Premier League giants like Tottenham and Manchester City are gunning for his signature.
The Russian club is looking to cut down on its expenses and has placed some top talents, including Willian for sale.
As per reports, ESPN Brazil claims that Manchester City have already made a £34m bid for the 24-year-old and seem to be the frontrunners.
The midfielder who moved to Anzhi only in January had earlier expressed his desire to move to the Premier League.
He was quoted as saying:
“I had offers from big English clubs and from other places, but Shakhtar never accepted them.”
“I wanted very badly to go to England, but I have no regrets and couldn’t wait any longer to leave Shakhtar – they used to tell me one thing and then act otherwise.
“Anzhi were the only ones who agreed to play for my release clause. I have enormous affection and respect for this club, but everybody knows that my dreams and desires haven’t changed.”
