Manchester City transfer news: Barcelona set to rival City for Van Dijk, Arsenal quote price for Sanchez and more- 25 December 2017
Barcelona enter race to sign Van Dijk
A lot of Premier League clubs have registered their interest in signing the Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the Dutch defender, while Chelsea are also looking for defensive enforcements.
Premier League leaders Manchester City seem to be in pole position to sign the Dutch defender. According to the Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are ready to battle City and other Premier League clubs in order to sign the Dutch defender. The centre-back has been omitted from starting line-ups recently which has fuelled his exit rumours.
Arsenal willing to cash in on Alexis Sanchez?
Manchester City were constantly linked to Alexis Sanchez in the summer transfer window. Arsenal managed to keep hold of him in the summer but Sanchez has only six months left on his Arsenal contract.
City might decide to test the resolve of Arsenal by bidding for the Chilean winger. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal might be willing to accept bids above 35 million pounds for the winger rather than losing him for free in the summer.
City in on for Bonucci?
The Premier League leaders have been brilliant this season. They look irresistible in attack but the defence still looks to be a bit fragile as it seemingly lacks a leader. Vincent Kompany has injury problems and City need someone to replace him.
According to the CalcioMercato, City have shown their interest in signing AC Milan captain Leonardo Bonucci. Former Juventus defender moved to AC Milan this summer where he was made the club captain. Bonucci can prove to be the last missing piece of the puzzle as City look to dominate EPL and Europe in the coming seasons.
Julian Weigl to replace Yaya Toure
Yaya Toure has been a great servant for Manchester City, but he has not been getting starts under Pep Guardiola. According to some reports, City is considering to let him leave as a free agent next summer.
The blue side of Manchester has already started to prepare for life without the Ivory Coast midfielder. According to Goal, City are keeping tabs on the progress of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl. The German International has been constantly linked to a move away from Dortmund and Etihad can prove to be a perfect destination for him.
