Manchester City want Balotelli out of the squad

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has been urged by the staff and the senior members to leave Mario Balotelli out of the squad, as the club faces the Italian in a Premier League tribunal on Wednesday. Balotelli is fighting City’s decision to fine him two weeks’ wages of £340,000 for his poor disciplinary record last season.

The enigmatic Italian stayed at home as City travelled to Newcastle for Saturday’s 3-1 win, with Mancini citing fitness problems.

With reports flying around that the striker may leave the club in January, Mancini has been on his guard, denying them as he still sees a future for Balotelli in first team plans for the next year.

But the staff and senior players are fed up by Balotelli’s antics on and off the field, as they feel the team is better off without him. His occasional brilliance on the field also seems to have vanished, as he was substituted early in the second half in the Manchester Derby.

The people at the Etihad Stadium aren’t too happy with his dispute with his own club over the fine rather than fighting with himself for his dismal performance against the Red Devils.

It was later known that Balotelli was selected ahead of Carlos Tevez in that game to run straight into Rio Ferdinand, as Mancini believed Ferdinand’s legs ‘have gone.’ But the Italian never seemed to play according to the instructions and was later substituted.

With everyone in Man City eager to get rid of him, the decision would lie in the belief Mancini has in the young striker.
