Portugal international Bernardo Silva has been an absolute revelation since joining City in the summer of 2017. The attacker won the Premier League title and EFL Cup in his first season at the Etihad, and followed that by helping City to win the domestic treble in 2018-19.

Since arriving in Manchester, Silva has scored 30 goals in 152 appearances. He’s also registered an impressive 35 assists for the side, and his ability to play from either a deeper-lying role or as a wide forward makes him one of Pep Guardiola’s key men. At just 25 years old, he may only just be reaching his prime, too.

#5 Fernandinho (Midfielder) - £150,000 per week

Brazilian international Fernandinho is heading into the final season of his £150k-per-week contract with City, and as of the time of writing, he has not signed an extension. At 35 years old he may be coming to the end of his time at the Etihad – and if that’s the case, he will definitely be missed.

A key man ever since his arrival at the club in 2013, Fernandinho will go down as one of the best holding midfielders in Premier League history. Also capable of playing in defence, the Brazilian has won three Premier League titles with City – and will look to add a fourth in his final campaign at the Etihad.

#4 David Silva (Midfielder) - £220,000 per week

This summer will mark the end of an era at Manchester City, as Spanish midfielder David Silva is set to depart the club when his £220k-per-week deal expires. Nicknamed ‘Merlin’ due to his wizardry on the ball, Silva signed with the club back in 2010 and played a huge role in ushering in the current era of success at the Etihad.

Silva has won 11 major trophies with City and has made over 400 appearances for the club. In his 10 seasons there he’s also scored 76 goals and has registered 92 assists in the Premier League alone. Essentially, he’ll go down as one of the greatest players in Premier League history.

#3 Sergio Aguero (Striker) - £230,135 per week

With a contract paying him more than £230k per week, Sergio Aguero is one of the Premier League’s highest-paid stars. It’d be hard to find a Manchester City fan who would claim the Argentine striker isn’t worth it. Since arriving at the Etihad in 2011, his goalscoring exploits have been a thing of legend.

Aguero has scored a total of 254 goals in 370 appearances – averaging more than a goal every other game. And his Premier League haul of 180 puts him fourth in the list of the competition’s all-time top goalscorers. Along the way, he’s won four Premier League titles and five domestic cups, and despite injury problems, doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.

#2 Raheem Sterling (Forward) - £300,000 per week

Despite a tricky beginning to his Manchester City career, England forward Raheem Sterling has developed into a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side. Sterling most recently inked a new deal worth around £300k per week, keeping him at the Etihad until the summer of 2023.

The last three seasons have seen Sterling develop into one of the side’s greatest goal threats. He’s improved his output from 10 goals in 2016-17 to 27 during the current campaign. One of the Premier League’s most dangerous attackers, at the age of 25 his pace, quick thinking and finishing skills are only just reaching their peak, too.

#1 Kevin De Bruyne (Midfielder) - £350,000 per week

City’s highest-paid player – reportedly earning around £350k per week – Kevin De Bruyne might also be the club’s most important player, too. The Belgian assist king is practically unrivalled in the Premier League when it comes to picking out a killer pass, and this season alone he’s registered an incredible 18 assists.

That puts him on a grand total of 64 since joining the club in the summer of 2015, but of course, assists are only one part of his game. He’s also got a penchant for scoring spectacular goals – including ones against Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea in the current campaign.

De Bruyne has already been named as City’s Player of the Year twice, and to see him win the award this season wouldn’t be a surprise. Simply put, he’s not only one of the Premier League’s best, He’s also one of the best players in the world.
