It was a flawless performance from Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday night as they dominated the hosts at every position on the pitch. They looked composed on the ball and were very well drilled by Pep Guardiola for this high-stakes game.

They held 68% possession and a 91% pass accuracy is an indication of how well they controlled the ball and were rarely pressed by the hosts. Though many expected the game to be a closely contested one, the visitors showed their class. After taking an early lead, they never let go of their control in the proceedings on the pitch.

#2 Portuguese duo too hot to handle for Manchester United

The Manchester derby had a Portuguese flavor tonight with as many as five players from the Iberian nation on the pitch. Manchester United had Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes in their ranks. Meanwhile Manchester City had a trio of Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo in the starting XI.

However, the duo of Silva and Cancelo overshadowed the much-celebrated duo of Ronaldo and Fernandes. They were the standout performers for the Cityzens and combined for their second goal of the game. Cancelo had more touches than anyone else on the pitch and also had two assists. Meanwhile Silva impressed with his all-round performance here.

#1 Manchester United without a home clean sheet for the season

Manchester City got their seventh clean sheet of the campaign thanks to a commanding performance. But the hosts remained without a clean sheet in their home games for the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

Across all competitions, the run stretches to 14 games in which they have failed to manage a shutout. The heatmap for the home side shows that they hardly managed to have any presence in the Manchester City box. Despite spending most of their time in their own half, an unorganized defense, which sorely missed the presence of Raphael Varane crumbled under pressure.

Manchester City recorded 16 shots and only five of them were on target, while Foden's effort grazed the outside of the post. If not for De Gea's sharp reflexes, the scoreline could've been far worse for the home side.
