Manchester United v Leicester City - Premier League
The Brazilian was brought back to the team after missing out in the last 2 games and made up for his absence by putting in a fine shift. Fred was United’s busiest player in the first half and it would seem like he had covered the entire pitch in the first half itself. The Brazilian was lively and quick, tracking back to stop the opposition counters as well as joining in the attack whenever United went forward. He kept the ball moving and showed his speed as well on a couple of occasions. Fred regularly brought the fullbacks into the game and even tried to set up the strikers with lofted balls. On one occasion, he ventured into the penalty area and sent in a lovely cross that unfortunately eluded the United players. The Brazilian also displayed his quick feet and close control in tight spaces to keep hold of the ball.
Fred picked up a yellow card early in the second half and had to restrict his game from then on. Yet he continued his natural form and spent the second half just like he did the first – running around the pitch, picking up cute spaces in the opposition half and making brilliant turns to keep the opposition on their toes. It was he who initiated the counter that led to the Martial goal, brilliantly finding Pogba at the edge of the opposition half with miles of open space to run into. Fred also made an important interception with the score at 3-0 to ensure that the lead remained intact, before being replaced by Fellaini in the 68th minute.

Deepungsu is a veteran football journalist who has been covering daily transfer roundups and news for over six years at Sportskeeda. He has written close to 9000 articles for the website, and has garnered over 19.5Million reads.
Deepungsu holds a PG degree in Microbiology and an MBA degree in Total Quality Management. He has an extensive two-decade long writing experience, which includes a decade of sports blogging. His writing prowess has even led his work getting cited on the legendary Franz Beckenbauer's Wikipedia page.
Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
