Manchester United and Liverpool stars feature in the top 3 over rated Premier League players

So who is an over rated player? Is he someone who deserves more plaudits than what he gets, more applause than he warrants or whose talent is overvalued and over appreciated? Do these players really possess the charisma to influence a game or their average day out on the pitch are exaggerated and blown out of proportions? We decided to give you a list of the handful of players whose talents are over appreciated and over blown by each passing day.

Ashley Young (Manchester United):

The Manchester United player was hailed as the next big thing in English Football after his mesmerizing displays in Aston Villa colours. Young had the reputation of a player who could run past defenders as if they weren’t there, possessed wonderful trickery and the pace to burn past any opposition. The current United player though, has developed the reputation who goes down far too easily even at the slightest of choices and is often referred to as the diver at Old Trafford. Young must showcase his talents and has to be one of the most important members of the United squad if the Red Devils are to salvage anything from their disastrous campaign so far.

Joe Allen (Liverpool):

After spending a whopping £15m from Swansea for the so called ‘Welsh Xavi’, Joe Allen has hardly delivered in a Liverpool shirt. After spending most of time on the sidelines, Allen has surely been not the kind of player he was under Rodgers at Swansea. Though, few would say Allen hasn’t been given his preferred choice in the heart of the middle, but it would be more than just to say that he surely hasn’t delivered playing in midfield. He hardly passes the ball forward, tracks back to help his defence or provided the incisive pass in the final third.

While Liverpool fans might feel he needs to show his real talent, I being one feels, if you are a Liverpool player, there is no place to hide son! You either perform or perish. Remember his open goal miss against Everton in the Merseyside derby? Taking from the positive point of view he did show flashes of brilliance against Spurs last week.

Jozy Altidore (Sunderland):

Jozy Altidore

After the black Cats signed Jozy Altidore in the summer, it was expected that he would take the Premier League by storm . Sadly he has turned to be nothing else but a damp squib. The American has hardly found the back of the net this campaign, a primary reason why Sunderlandare really struggling in the relegation zone so far.

If we go by the Sunderland West Ham, the hosts missed a plethora of chances to bud the game beyond doubt and this is where you need your striker to take the initiative and lead your team. Despite dominating possession for much of the game, and creating the best openings, Sunderland couldn’t find the breakthrough, with Altidore missing the host of chances.
