Manchester United have signed Belgian wonderkid Indy Boonen in a three-year contract according to reports from Belgium. The 16-year-old has been on trial at Carrington for a month.

Boonen is an attacking midfielder and can also play as a left back. According to reports, the youngster impressed the United scouts while playing a friendly against the Red Decils for his previous team Genk in 2013. United moved quickly to offer Boonen his first professional contract with Arsenal, Manchester City, Feyenoord and Wolfsberg all reportedly keen on acquiring his services.

While speaking to Belgian news outlet HLN, Boonen said, “It's like in a dream. The training sessions are hard, but I don't feel the tiredness when I realise I have signed for Manchester United.”

The youngster seems like a big fan of Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo and has several pictures of the superstar on his Facebook album. He will be the third Belgian to join United’s ranks with Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini already part of the first team.

Boonen is already a youth international for Belgium and comes from a football family. Boonen's father, Jacky, was a professional footballer for Lierse, Beveren and Lokeren in the 1990s.

United are also rumoured to be interested in Bonnen’s 13-year-old brother Seppe, who is a goalkeeper
