#1 Kalidou Koulibaly

Solution to all defensive issues
Solution to all defensive issues

The Napoli destroyer would solve all of United's defensive issues. Strong in the air, cleaver on the ball, the Senegalese centre-back is one of the most sought-after defenders in the world right now.

Manchester United miss a player to progress the ball from the defence to one of the forwards or even the midfield. Baring Pogba, no one is really good at moving the ball forward without punting it long. Herrera, Matic and Fred all lack the passing range or pace and panache to do this work.

Koulibaly will be that man who is tailormade for this role. His presence would plug the gaps in the defence that has seen them concede them fo many goals in the early part of the season. The Napoli man would enable United to play with a higher defensive line and facilitate more intricate play with the players in the final third playing more close together.

Koulibaly could form a lethal partnership with Bailly at the heart of the defence and form a solid foundation on which Manchester United can build their attacks on. A surefire way to lock up their goal with a strong centre-back partnership with the ever-reliable De Gea in goal could see United really push for Champions League football next season.

#2 Philippe Coutinho

A move of this size would be a warning shot to every rival in the league
A move of this size would be a warning shot to every rival in the league

Just over a year ago, Coutinho made his dream move to FC Barcelona for a humungous fee of €160 million. Regular bench duties and inconsistent performances have cast doubt on the future of the Brazilian maestro. Acquiring the services of a player of the size of Coutinho might be a sign of intent Solskjaer needs to raise spirits at the club and remind everyone who Manchester United really is. As reported by the Manchester Evening News United are favourites to get the signature of the Brazilian.

A tricky, skilful creative force, Coutinho thrived in the no10 role at Liverpool. Currently at Barcelona having to play out on the wing has seen him get less of the ball and hence reduced his influence on the team. Messi's injury could have been the perfect opportunity for the former Inter man needed to show everyone at the club what exactly he's capable of, instead, it was Dembele who seized the opportunity and has cemented himself as a first-team regular in the Barcelona lineup.

A move back to the Premier League could be just what he needs to reestablish himself as one of the world's best. Solsjkaer's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation would also see him return to his preferred role. From here he can create as well as score his trademark curling rockets that he is so acclaimed for.

The likes of Lukaku, Rashford and Martial would benefit from his ability to create numerous goal scoring opportunities. United do have the resources to pull off a move of this magnitude as it is believed a bid of at least £100 million would be needed.

#3 Douglas Costa

The only missing link in Manchester United's attack?
The only missing link in Manchester United's attack?

Costa has had a mixed time at Juventus since swapping Bavaria for Turin. Last season, the Brazilain contributed to sixteen goals in just eighteen stars in Serie A but has had a disastrous second season for the Old Lady. From getting sent off and suspended for spitting at a player, to providing no goals or assists this season, the 2018-19 season has been one to forget for the former Shakhtar man.

The arrival of Ronaldo in the summer saw Dybala play on the right wing and has restricted Douglas to just 4 starts in the league. A frustrated Douglas would definitely be tempted to leave Italy for the pomp and show the Premier League. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and this might be his chance to come and light up Old Trafford and prove all his critics wrong once and for all.

Douglas is a typical right winger, extremely skilful, loves beating his man and has a wicked right foot that enables him to shoot from distance. Mata is the only left-footed forward in Manchester United's ranks and is clearly not suited for playing on the wing. Either Martial or Rashford has had to fill in on the right which curtails their game to a huge extent.

Douglas would bring with him a huge bag of skills and experience of playing at some of the biggest clubs in the world. He would know what it means to pull on the red of Manchester United. Douglas would be a great partner for Martial on the opposite wings and could pull off the intricate play with precision passing that both are capable of

A very realistic signing as it looks like Juventus are looking for a replacement for him as well. A talented, able young winger that would definitely get every United fan itching to watch him tear defences apart and combine with the likes of Pogba and Rashford.
