Modric to return to the Premier League?

Luka Modric linked with a move to Old Trafford

Manchester United have set their sights on a summer transfer for Real Madrid’s playmaker Luka Modric, according to Diario Gol.

Reports claim Modric is unsettled at the club following reports of interest from Tottenham, Inter Milan, and more importantly, Manchester United.

Modric, 32 is aware of Real Madrid’s policy of replacing their ageing players and the Croatian playmaker is not happy with Gareth Bale’s treatment at the club, who was Modric’s teammate at Tottenham.

United, on the other hand, are inclined towards the idea of signing Modric to solve their number 10 woes if they are unable to sign Mesut Ozil in January or next summer.

Manchester United to hijack Chelsea’s deal for Alex Sandro

Sandro wants a Premier League switch in January

Manchester United will make a shock January move to sign Juventus’ unsettled left-back Alex Sandro, according to Daily Express.

Sandro is adamant to quit the Serie A Champions and his preferred destination is the Premier League. Despite their strong interest in the player, Chelsea are no longer pursuing the player and have left the door open for United to make their move.

United’s left-back issues have been well advertised, with Jose Mourinho having seemingly lost patience and faith in Luke Shaw’s ability to be his first-choice for that role.

Players like Danny Rose and Alex Grimaldo have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, however, with Sandro being available in January, Mourinho is holding on to his plans and is waiting for the right time to make his move.

Sandro is known to be an attacking full-back which could just be the perfect foil for United’s new-found 3-5-2 system, with Antonio Valencia cementing his place in the right-wing position.

Zinedine Zidane no longer interested in De Gea

Arsenal v Manchester United - Premier League
De Gea made 14 saves against Arsenal last weekend

Manchester United have been handed a new boost to their hopes of hanging on to David De Gea beyond this season, after Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane claimed his happiness with the goalkeepers he has at his disposal.

In his recent interview, Zidane said:

“I have two goalkeepers, understand? I am a Real Madrid coach and I am happy with my two goalkeepers, I will always say the same. I saw Keylor well, although we can always give a little bit more, like always.”

Real Madrid have been left frustrated in their pursuit to sign the Spanish goalkeeper and if the reports are to be believed, Los Blancos are no longer interested in signing De Gea and would rather focus their attention on other targets – Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris.
