Just as fans readied themselves for a Super Sunday as Manchester United hosted Chelsea in the Premier League, United fans were in for a rude shock when Jose Mourinho announced his starting lineup. The big news for the day was that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was dropped.
The Swedish striker is the Red Devils’ top goalscorer with 17 goals in the league but he was dropped to the bench with Mourinho claiming he needed a rest. “He's tired, very tired,” Mourinho said on Ibrahimovic. “I’ll try to protect him but let’s see the result. He's on the bench and ready to help.”

However, even Henrikh Mkhitaryan was dropped to the bench – effectively both top scorers currently available (Juan Mata is out following groin surgery). To make fans scratch their heads even more, Ashley Young was made captain by the Portuguese manager.
