Manchester United came from 3-0 down at Stamford Bridge to draw 3-3 in one of the games of the season.

Chelsea decided to start Bosingwa at left back against the in-form Valencia, and the Portuguese played well, keeping Valencia at bay most of the time. Nani and Tom Cleverley traveled, but it was Ashley Young who made the squad and started.

United had an impressive first half that wasn’t rewarded, but instead, it was punished. Ten minutes before half time, Daniel Sturridge ran deep into the penalty area, with the ball eventually hitting De Gea’s boot then ricocheting of Jonny Evans and crossing the line, into the net.

United went into the half time interval still confident knowing they were by far the better side in the first half and could turn it around in the second. However, a minute into the second half, United’s chances to win the game had lessened; Fernando Torres crossing a delicious cross for his Spanish team mate, Juan Mata to fire home an unstoppable volley past David De Gea.

Only 5 minutes into the second half and Chelsea’s lead was extended. Juan Mata again involved, this time crossing in a free kick for the unmarked David Luiz to score a header, which deflected in off Rio Ferdinand, and wrong footed De Gea.

With Chelsea brimming with confidence and United reeling, it looked like the home side were going to run riot. However, just before the hour mark, Patrice Evra was clumsily fouled by Daniel Sturridge in the area, resulting in a Man Utd penalty. Wayne Rooney stepped up and smashed a fantastic penalty past Petr Cech. Comeback on? You bet!

With Scholes and Javier Hernandez now being brought on, United had a sniff of a chance to get something from the game. Then with 20 minutes to go, after a neat move, Hernandez laid the ball for Danny Welbeck who was fouled by Branislav Ivanovic, resulting in MUFC’s fourth penalty in two games. Wayne Rooney stepped up again, and scored… again.

United kept pushing and pushing for an equaliser and after constant pressure, they were rewarded. Wayne Rooney, looking for a hatrick, had his shot saved by Cech, but the chance was kept alive by Ryan Giggs who crossed in superbly for the lethal Javier Hernandez to head home to complete one of the best comebacks of recent memory.

With the game looking for a winner, Chelsea had a free kick in a dangerous position. Left footed master Juan Mata stepped up to take, and hit it perfectly towards the top corner, only to be denied by one of the saves of the season by David De Gea. A big moment in the match and for De Gea.

With two points dropped, I see it as one point gained. United coming from 3-0 down at one of the hardest stadiums in England, is one of the greatest comebacks ever. Great passion shown. Man of the match for me was Wayne Rooney.
