The UEFA Champions League is European club football's blue riband competition. In 28 editions of the tournament, 92 different players from 35 different nations have scored hat-tricks for 47 different clubs.

19-year-old Norwegian Erling Braut Håland became the third-youngest player to score three goals in a Champions League game when he did so for Red Bull Salzburg against Genk.

Mislav Oršić of Croatia soon joined Håland in the select group of players to score Champions League hat-tricks, when the midfielder scored three times for Dinamo Zagreb against Italian debutants Atalanta. It marked the first time in the competition's history, two debutants scored hat-tricks in the same season.

#9 Mislav Oršić (Croatia)

Mislav Oršić became the 92nd different player to score a Champions League hat-trick when the midfielder scored three times against tournament debutants Atalanta in a 4-0 home win for Dinamo Zagreb.

It was the 126th hat-trick in the competition. Oršić's goals made Croatia the 17th different nation and Dinamo Zagreb the 47th different club to register a hat-trick in a Champions League game.

A day after Erling Braut Håland scored a hat-trick on his tournament debut, Oršić joined the teenager in a select group of players to score three times in their first game in the competition.

Erling Braut Håland scored three first-half goals for Salzburg against Belgian side Genk in a thumping 6-2 win. It marked the 125th hat-trick in the Champions League and made Håland the 91st different player in the competition to do so.

At 19 years 58 days, Håland becomes the third-youngest player to score a Champions League hat-trick, following Real Madrid legend Raúl Gonzalez (18 years 113 days) against Ferencváros in 1994-95, and Wayne Rooney (18 years 340 days) for Manchester United against Fenerbahce in 2004-05..

Haaland is the third Norwegian player to net a Champions League hat-trick, the others being Sigurd Rushfeldt for Rosenborg in 1998-99 against Galatasaray and Frode Johnsen, also for Rosenborg, in 2000-01 against Helsingborg.

The teenager's three-goal haul made Salzburg the 46th different club and the first from Austria to register a hat-trick in a Champions League game.

Yacine Brahimi provided the 91st hat-trick of the Champions League when he scored three goals for Porto against BATE Borisov in 2014-15.

It made Brahimi the first Algerian player and Porto the 42nd different club to score a hat-trick in the competition.

Brahimi's hat-trick was the first by a Champions League debutant in five years as the 24-year-old Algerian became the youngest African player after Nigeria's Yakubu (19 years) to score three goals in a Champions League game.

Grafite became the 8th Brazilian player to score a Champions League hat-trick when he netted thrice for VfL Wolfsburg against CSKA Moscow in a 2009-10 group-game.

It was the 60th hat-trick in the competition as Wolfsburg became the 39th different club to register a Champions League hat-trick.

Grafite is the oldest Brazilian and one of 16 different players, aged thirty or above, to score three times in a Champions League game.

Vincenzo Iaquinta scored the 48th hat-trick of the Champions League in Udinese's 3-0 win over Panathinaikos in a 2005-06 group game.

The 2005 World Cup winner is the fifth and latest Italian player to score three times in a Champions League game.

Iaquinta's three-goal haul made Udinese the 35th different club to score a Champions League hat-trick.

#4 Wayne Rooney (England)

An 18-year-old Wayne Rooney became the youngest player, after Raúl, to score a Champions League hat-trick when he scored three goals for Manchester United against Turkish side Fenerbahçe in a 2004-05 group game.

It was the 41st hat-trick in the competition as Rooney became the fifth Englishman to register three-goals in a Champions League game.

Rooney's goals marked the first Champions League hat-trick conceded by Fenerbahçe.

#3 Yakubu (Nigeria)

Yakubu scored three goals for Maccabi Haifa against Olympiacos in a 2002-03 group game.

In the process, the Nigerian became the first teenager (fourth overall) since Raúl to score a Champions League hat-trick.

It was the 33rd hat-trick in the competition and the first by an African player as Maccabi Haifa became the first club from Israel to register a Champions League hat-trick.

Faustino Asprilla provided the 12th hat-trick of the Champions League when he scored three goals for Newcastle United against Barcelona in a 1997-98 group game.

The goals made Asprilla the first South American after Romário to score thrice in a Champions League game as Newcastle became the tenth different club (second English club) to score a Champions League hat-trick.

Asprilla and Shevchenko (also in 1997-98) are the only players to score a Champions League hat-trick against Barcelona.

#1 Marco van Basten (Netherlands)

Milan legend Marco van Basten scored the third hat-trick of the Champions League when he netted all four goals in Milan's 4-0 win over IFK Göteborg in a 1992-93 group game.

In the process, van Basten joined compatriot Juul Ellerman, scorer of the first Champions League hat-trick, as the second Dutchman to score three goals in the competition's inaugural edition.

It would be seven seasons later before another player, Simone Inzaghi of Italy, scored four times in a Champions League game for Lazio against Marseille.
