Alvaro Morata, the 23-year-old Spaniard, was in a jubilant mood as Real Madrid came from behind to win against Sporting Lisbon in the late stages of the game. Morata scored the winner from an exquisite delivery from the left by fellow substitute James Rodriguez’s cross.
After the game, he was full of praise for the Colombian, who was linked with a move away from Madrid this summer.
The match-winner was full of praise for his teammates and the manner in which Madrid won the game. Morata accepted, that although the team hadn’t started well, they still managed to pull off the win and praised the fans for creating the atmosphere which helped the team win.

Hailing the team spirit he added that in a stadium like Santiago Bernabeu, anything could happen (in respect to a Madrid victory).
The match which had been a bit sluggish was turned on its head after the introduction of the three Madrid substitutes – Vasquez, Morata and Rodriguez. The Spaniard reiterated the importance of the win for his team.
Having returned in the summer from Juventus for a sum of €30 million, the Spaniard has been an integral member in his team’s early season success.
Zidane is happy however his team wins
Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, speaking after the game, suggested that the tension in the game ensured a good spectacle for the spectators and was of the opinion that sometimes it is better for the fans this way, as the win is more hard fought.
Speaking of his squad, the manager said he was confident in the team’s ability to turn the game around and praised the character of the squad.

Speaking at length to the media about the match, Zidane emphasised the depth of his squad and stated how focused they have been. He also spoke of contingency plans and the belief of the team, “It wasn’t unexpected. I don’t know whether we deserved it or not, but we kept believing right until the end. At any given time we can make the difference. We didn’t throw in the towel and that is important. The effort put in was tremendous.”
Jorge Jesus, though, was left unimpressed and said that with a little luck, his side could have even won the game.
Lisbon nullified the Madrid midfield and hardly let the Los Blancos create any chances. He was left rueing his team’s inexperience, which he felt was the reason for their defeat, and he felt that Sporting had played well enough to have at least garnered a point.
After the game, Gareth Bale took to social media, where he hailed the amazing effort of the team.
