Mourinho set to sign new four-year contract with Chelsea

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to receive an early contract extension if reports from are to be believed. The Portuguese still has two years left on his contract after the end of this season.

However, a stellar performance by Chelsea this season has reportedly convinced the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that the Portuguese is the right man for the job and he could be handed a brand new four-year deal. Although, the deal is expected to be signed only after the end of this season.

Chelsea is still competing for three trophies this season as the London side sits comfortably at the top of the Premier League with a seven-point lead over closest rivals Manchester City.

The Blues are already in the finals of the League Cup and will be going into the second leg of the round-of-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain, with a slight advantage after playing out a 1-1 away draw at Paris.

A four-year deal would see Mourinho tied down to the Stamford Bridge till 2019. A few days back, Mourinho himself expressed interest in remaining at Chelsea for the long haul.

The Portuguese is yet to win a trophy after returning to manage Chelsea in 2013. His first stint at the Stamford Bridge in 2004-2007 saw him pick up two Premier Leagues, one FA Cup and one League Cup.

Mourinho spent 2008-2013 coaching at Inter Milan and then Real Madrid.
