Every time, Manchester United lose a match, #MoyesOut trends on the social-networking site Twitter, courtesy of the tweets of Manchester United fans, while #MoyesIn is what is tweeted by fans of all the other clubs.

However, after last night’s hammering at the hands of fierce rivals Manchester City, #MoyesOut was trending once again, but not only that, a twitter handle with the name @MoyesOutASAP, which has followers in excess of 10,000 has pledged to restart the campaign to get rid of David Moyes.

While the anger of the fans during the game was directed towards Sir Alex, after the game the focus shifted back to Moyes, who was subjected to wide-spread abuse. The group which wants to get rid of David Moyes, have set up a petition pledging to “collect funds from genuine Manchester United fans and donate it to the club so that a new manager is appointed”.

United after last night’s defeat are 18 points behind league leaders Chelsea. The upset fans have filed a 1,768-word petition, listing Moyes’ failings and ordering United to sack the Scot come the end of the season.

The petition finishes with this letter, which they urge supporters to sign.
During the game, yesterday the stewards had to restrain angry fans in the south stand, while one who had made a beeline to Moyes’ dugout and had launched a barrage of abuse towards the manager was ejected from the ground. The stewards were also required to guard ‘The Chosen One’ banner which hangs from the Stretford End at full time, for fear of it being dragged down.

Moyes taking the blame, said: “I thought it would be a tough year for us, no doubt about that, but I hoped we would be much more competitive and closer to the top of the league than we are at the present time.

“Everyone knows this is going to be a job which is going to take a little bit of time to get the way we would like it but that is the job and I recognise that.”It is under way in its own way. You don’t just suddenly change things around.”The petition has 707 signatures so far.
