Nani set for Manchester United exit?

Chelsea v Manchester United - Capital One Cup Fourth Round

Portuguese international Nani’s stay at Manchester United could be coming to an end, if ESPN is to be believed.

Reportedly, Sir Alex Ferguson’s criticism of Nani for his mistake which led to a penalty and Chelsea‘s equaliser in injury time in the Capital One Cup didn’t go down too well with the winger, who has been constantly criticised for his poor form this season.

According to ESPN, assistant manager Mike Phelan had to calm Nani after Ferguson’s criticism, with reports of a bust up with coach Rene Meulensteen also doing the rounds.

It is said that Ferguson has been looking for alternatives to Nani, with Lucas apparently being one of the first choices before United were blown out of the water by a mega bid from PSG.

Other alternatives being mentioned are Paul Ince’s son Tom, who plays for Blackpool, Porto’s James Rodriguez and Malaga’s Isco.

However a bid for any of the name will depend on United’s ability to offload Nani in the first place, who has 18 months remaining on his contract.
