Nani - The broken wing

Tough time....

Never before this season would one have seen a United fan accusing Nani for his dedication to the Club or his performance on field but the scene has now changed. Brought in as a 20-year old was deemed to be the “Next Cristiano Ronaldo” and even performed brilliantly on his debut campaign at United but he hasn’t managed to live up to the expectations of a United fan of a “scoring winger” just like his former mentor Ronaldo.

This summer he has been linked with a move away from OT with Zenit, Real Madrid and Manchester City being the possible destinations. And his recent performances against Everton and more recently Turkish side Galatasaray would surely give provide heart ache to a United fan. With Ashley Young injured we have many choices in the form of Shinji Kagawa, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and even newly bought left back Alex Buttner but practically we don’t have any choice other than Nani on the left flank as with Wayne Rooney injured, Robin Van Persie filling his void in front, Shinji Kagawa is capable but was bought to play “in the hole” so no possibility here either and Buttner will certainly not be used for that job as it would relieve pressure on an out-of-form Evra!

So do we really need to buy a new left winger?

No, we have one! His fellow countrymen Bebe, and yes I know many of you will be thinking of me as being high on spirit before I when wrote this article, but that’s not true. Bebe according to me hasn’t proved himself to be good enough for United but that is only half the story. The real truth is that he hasn’t been given enough chances, having played four matches in which he has scored one goal.

Who knows? He might prove to be the right man for the job on the left!
