Chelsea continue their tradition of having the best Serbian player in their squad as Nemanja Matic bags the 2014 Serbian Player of the Year award for his phenomenal season with Benfica and Serbia.

Since joining Chelsea back from Benfica in the January transfer window, Matic has been one of Mourinho’s key player, and was Chelsea’s best performance during their away 1-2 win over Liverpool at Anfield., earning the man of the match award in the process.

The news was confirmed by the official twitter handle of the Serbian national football team:

The 26-year-old replaces Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic as the winner after the latter had won the last two editions in a row.
