There are some Premier League records that may never be broken again. Alan Shearer's 260 league goals and Gareth Barry's record 653 league appearances are some records that are simply 'untouchable'.

Fortunately, not all of these records are unassailable. Every now and again we are able to see history being made right in front of our eyes, when a club, a player or a manager breaks a record or sets a new one earning a place in the history books.

And this season too, some lucky players and managers have ended up creating history.

With Premier League action set to return after two weeks of international break, let us take a look at the 4 new Premier League records that been have set thus far.

#1 James Milner sets a one of a kind penalty record

James Milner set an unusual Premier League record on 20 August 2018, when he scored the opening goal of the match from the penalty spot against Crystal Palace.

The Liverpool no.7 converted from the spot on the stroke of half-time to give his side the lead at Selhurst Park and in doing so became the first player in history to score eight consecutive Premier League goals from penalties.

After a long wait of two years, he scored his first goal from open play against Arsenal on 3 November ending his unique streak at 8 goals.

#2 Ryan Sessegnon scores a landmark PL goal

Ryan Sessegnon came into this season of the Premier League having scored 15 times in Fulham's return to the first division after four years.

So, he was tipped to carry that red hot form to the top flight and make an instant impact.

But things are quite different and tougher out here in the Premier League and he failed to replicate his prolific goal scoring exploits this season, managing only a single assist in the first 8 matches.

In his ninth Premier League appearance on 20 October 2018, the England U21 international became the first player born in the 21st century to find the back of the net in an English top-flight fixture.

He permanently etched his name into Premier League history when he slotted home a left-footed effort against Cardiff City in 34th minute of the Cottagers 4-2 loss.

#3 Liverpool vs Tottenham becomes the highest-scoring fixture in Premier League history

Two teams from the so called 'Big 6' went head to head at the Wembley stadium on 15 September 2018, when Tottenham Hotspurs hosted Liverpool in their Premier League fixture.

One interesting stat that most of the people overlooked was that, prior to their weekend clash, Liverpool vs. Tottenham was the second-highest scoring fixture in Premier League history, with 149 goals.

To beat the then record-holders, Arsenal vs Everton (151 goals), 3 goals needed to be scored in the game.

And as fate would have it, exactly 3 goals were scored in the fixture that ended in a 2-1 Reds victory .

This is one of those records that might change hands quite frequently, with three fixtures, Arsenal vs Everton, Arsenal vs Liverpool and Chelsea vs Tottenham in hot pursuit with 151, 147 and 146 goals being scored in them respectively.

#4 Maurizio Sarri breaks a 14-year old managerial record

It only took 12 fixtures for Maurizio Sarri to break into the Premier League record books as the best performing rookie manager in the English top flight.

Sarri overtook Frank Clark's record for the longest Premier League unbeaten run of a new manager, which he achieved with Nottingham Forest in 1994, when Chelsea extended their unbeaten run to 12 games with a draw at home with Everton.

Interestingly, his unbeaten streak included tricky fixtures against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Chelsea, at this moment are also the only side in Europe's top five divisions yet to lose in any competition, following Juventus' Champions League defeat against Manchester United in midweek.

Sarri boasts one of the best managerial start record of any manager, so the question is - Will that be enough for him to claim the league title this season? We'll have to wait and see.
