New Liverpool signing Alexander Isak has shared a message on social media following Newcastle United's blunt transfer statement on his exit. After a summer of speculation, the Swedish striker joined the Reds on transfer deadline day for a British record £125m fee.
The player had been pushing for a move to the Merseyside club for a while, and had refused to play before the transfer materialised on Monday. The Magpies, understandably, were least pleased with his behavior, and it appears that his move to Liverpool hasn't gone down well at St. James' Park.
Newcastle United announced the transfer with an indifferent statement, which read:
"Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions."
Alexander Isak, though, has now taken to Instagram to thank the Magpies. He wrote:
"I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together. Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs. It has been an honour to be part of the journey from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years. Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle."
The Swede has scored 62 goals from 109 games for Newcastle United and won the EFL Cup last season. Liverpool have handed him the No. 9 shirt vacated by Darwin Nunez this summer.
What did Alexander Isak say after joining Liverpool?

Alexander Isak couldn't contain his excitement after completing his move to Liverpool. Speaking to the club's website, he reflected on the long journey to get to Anfield.
“I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”
The Swede went on to express a desire to win everything with the Reds.
“I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”
Isak could make his debut for Liverpool when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on September 14 in the Premier League.
