Barcelona Training Session: Barca handed ban for PSG game

UEFA has confirmed that Barcelona have been handed a €32,000 fine and has also been banned from selling away tickets to fans following their encounter against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League.

La Blaugrana squared off against the Parisians in the last eight of the Champions League. Xavi's side won 3-2 at the Parc des Princes but were defeated 4-1 at home. They have been knocked out of the competition as a result.

Azulgrana, however, have now received yet another bad news. They have received a few penalties due to certain behaviors by fans at Parc des Princes. First of all, UEFA has reprimanded Barca after their fans set off fireworks and the club have been handed a €32,000 fine as a result.

The Catalan club have further received a €5,000 penalty for damage caused inside the stadium. La Blaugrana have also been ordered to contact PSG within the next 30 days for the repairing of any damage caused to the stadium by fans.

Barcelona have further received a €25,000 fine for their fans making racist remarks inside the stadium. They have also been banned from selling tickets for the next UEFA away game. The decision will stand until a year from the date of announcement.

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo apologizes for his red card against PSG

After winning the first leg 3-2, Azulgrana were favorites to win the quarter-final tie against PSG. They took an early 1-0 lead in the second leg as well. However, in the 29th minute, Ronald Araujo was sent off for his challenge on Bradley Barcola.

The momentum shifted and PSG ran away with the game as 4-1 winners. Araujo has now reacted to the referee's decision, saying (via Barca Universal):

"I am sad, like all Barcelona fans, because of the red card. The shot was 50-50 and the referee made the decision. It hurts."

Araujo added:

"To the young fans, I tell them we're very sorry and this is how football is."

Araujo and Barca, however, have little time to reflect on their defeat against the Parisians. Up next is a tantalizing showdown against Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday, April 20.
