Kylian Mbappe starred with a brace in France's 2-1 Euro 2024 qualifying win in Amsterdam.

Fans have reacted to Kylian Mbappe's brace in France's 2-1 UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying win against the Netherlands on Friday (October 13) as Les Bleus qualified for the Germany finals.

Mbappe, 24, put his recent barren run in club football - four games across competitions without a goal - behind him as he opened the scoring inside seven minutes at the Johan Cryuff ArenA.

Six minutes into the second period, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner netted a breathtaking second to put Les Bleus in the ascendancy. Although the Oranje reduced arrears through Quilindschy Hartman seven minutes from time, Didier Deschamps' men held on to make it six wins out of six in their qualifying group.

Mbappe's second of the night in the Dutch capital made him France's outright fourth-highest scorer with 42 strikes. He's now one ahead of the legendary Michel Platini and behind the leading trio of Olivier Giroud (54), Thierry Henry (51) and Antoine Griezmann (44).

Fans reacted to Mbappe's accomplishment, with one hailing the Frenchman to dominate in any era because of his 'outrageous' talent, tweeting:

"Don’t care what era he is in, Kylian Mbappe is going to be one of the best to ever do it when it’s all said and done. Outrageously talented player."

Another reckons Mbappe's comparision with Manchester City's treble-winning striker Erling Haaland is 'disgusting':

"If anyone thinks Haaland is even remotely close to mbappe then go watch another sport. Disgusting comparison"

Here are some of the top reactions on X, formerly called Twitter:

With the win, France join Portugal and Belgium as the first three teams to book their place at Euro 2024.

Earlier in the day, Portugal beat Slovakia 3-2 at home to extend their perfect qualifying record to seven games, while Belgium won 3-2 at Austria.

Kylian Mbappe has an impressive record with France. Since his debut in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg in March 2017, the 24-year-old has bagged 42 goals and 25 assists in 72 games across competitions.

All but eight of those goals have come in competitive outings. Mbappe's scoring record of 0.58 goals every game is the best after No. 9 Just Fontaine (1.43; 30 goals in 21 games) in the list of Les Bleus' top 10 scorers.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has now led France in six games and won all of them, becoming the first player to do so since Marcel Dessaily in 1999. Mbappe will now hope to open his account in the European Championship next summer after drawing a blank in his first four games in the 2020 edition.
