Manchester United legend Gary Neville has predicted his former club to finish sixth in the Premier League this season. The football pundit was hosting a Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter) when he made the prediction.

A fan asked Neville where he thinks the Red Devils will finish in the league this term. To this, the former right-back bluntly replied:

"6th."

Notably, Manchester United finished third in the league last season, behind champions Manchester City and Arsenal. But they haven't started the ongoing season in a promising fashion.

After nine games, Erik ten Hag's side are eighth in the league table with five wins and four defeats. With 15 points, they are five points off fourth-placed Liverpool and eight off league leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

The English giants have shown a semblance of a comeback in recent matches. They have won their last three games across competitions, two of which came in the Premier League.

Their next league assignment will be a huge test, however, with defending champions Manchester City traveling to Old Trafford. The derby is scheduled to be played on Sunday, October 29.

Erik ten Hag heaps praise on Manchester United defender Harry Maguire

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag heaped praise on defender Harry Maguire after the Englishman's goal helped the team to a 1-0 win over Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 24.

Commenting on Maguire's recent resurgence in form, Ten Hag said after the match (via Sky Sports):

"He's playing much more proactively in possession, stepping in, passing vertically. He's defending on the front foot, defending forward, very confident in the duels, I think he is dominating in the right way with his aggression against opponents. You see he also gets rewarded. Of course, his heading is a skill... a very good finish."

The England international was stripped of club captaincy in the summer and was heavily linked with an exit. However, he ultimately stayed put and has now stepped in to help the club during an injury crisis.
