Fans react to Haaland's performance against Real Madrid

Manchester City fans have slammed star striker Erling Haaland following his disappointing performance in their side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid.

Defending champions, City, bowed out of the prestigious cup competition courtesy of a 3-4 penalty shootout loss to Carlo Ancelotti's men.

Manchester City had initially played out a 3-3 draw in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie at Santiago Bernabue. They hoped to secure their passage to the next round at the Etihad Stadium.

However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 12th minute through Brazilian forward Rodrygo. Manchester City then equalised in the 76th minute courtesy of a sublime strike from Kevin de Bruyne.

Both teams were unable to find the winner in regular plus extra time, with Real Madrid eventually winning the game in penalties by 4-3.

After the game, fans were quick to call out star striker Haaland, who was subbed off in the 91st minute for Julian Alvarez. It wasn't the best of nights for Haaland, who failed to make any impact whatsoever across the two legs of the encounter.

One fan said about the 23-year-old Norwegian striker:

"Can we just accept that haaland is a Caucasian lukaku.

Another fan said:

"Haaland ghosts in every big game. Hasn’t got that elite mentality has he?

A third City fan also said:

"Also what is a Haaland, serious convos need to happen."

Yet another fan said:

"Haaland is just another Martial from Norway."

Lastly, another fan said:

"Low-key haaland is to blame uno 👀 absolutely non existent when we needed him.
