Fans reacted on social media after Bayern Munich dumped Arsenal out of the UEFA Champions League in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (April 17). The German outfit began their redemption journey by booking their spot in the last four of Europe's premier club competition.

For the first time in 12 seasons, a team other than Bayern Munich has won the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen ended their reign with five games left in the league.

Having also been eliminated from the DFB Pokal by third-tier side Saarbrucken, Munich's only hope of a trophy this season is the UEFA Champions League. Their 2-2 draw against the Gunners in the first leg at the Emirates last week (April 9) put the tie on a knife's edge, given the quality of the English side.

Mikel Arteta's side realized that the same pedigree that helped Bayern Munich knock them out in 2017 remains with the club after seven years. A 1-0 scoreline was enough to send the injury-hit German giants into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The match elicited several responses online, particularly from X users.

"Harry Kane showing the door to Arsenal yet again!," a user said.

Many other users took the opportunity to make fun of the Gunners' fans, especially after how confident they were after the draw was made.

"Arsenal fans were too proud. They forgot Bayern is a beast in the Champions league. Now, no premiership, no champs league. boys will always be boys. This is a competition for men," a fan commented.
"Harry Kane loved this one 🤣," a user wrote.
"Give us Bayern munich" "this, that" What happened? 😭😭," another fan chimed in.
"hold that arsenal hahaha," a fan wrote.
"LETS ALL LAUGH AT ARSENAL," another tweet read.

Injury-hit Bayern Munich eliminate Arsenal from Champions League

Seven years ago, Bayern Munich needed a 10-2 aggregate win to eliminate Arsenal from the Champions League. This year, the German outfit needed fewer goals to get the job done, and it managed to do it.

Thomas Tuchel's side were without Kingsley Coman, Alphonso Davies, and Serge Gnabry for the game in front of their fans. As a result, the manager played Raphael Guerreiro as the left winger.

Following a cagey first half, Bayern Munich scored the winner midway through the second half (63'). Joshua Kimmich was on hand to head home a cross from Guerreiro and sealed the win for Bayern.

Bayern Munich will face Manchester City in the semi-finals, while PSG will face Borussia Dortmund for a place in the final.
