Ray Parlour has warned Kepa Arrizabalaga against joining Arsenal, who are interested in him. The former player believes the Chelsea goalkeeper is not going to start ahead of David Raya and will be stuck as the No. 2 at the club.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Parlour said Kepa should look to join a club where he is the first choice, as he has done well in his loan spell at AFC Bournemouth. The 52-year-old further pointed out that the Spaniard is just 30 years old and will regret moving to Arsenal. He said (via Arsenal Insider):

"It's all on if he wants to play. He's not going to play at Arsenal, is he? He's going to be the No. 2, but do you want to be No. 2? He's obviously been No.1 at Bournemouth now. If you're Arsenal, you want to buy him because he's a great No. 2 to have. But if you're Kepa, you want to play unless you're happy to sit on the bench. If I was a keeper, I'd want to play at his age, 30, because you'll regret it when you finish."

Kepa Arrizabalaga has a £5 million clause in his contract after he penned a one-year extension to his deal at Chelsea. AFC Bournemouth remain interested in signing him, while Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs.

Bournemouth boss wants to sign Arsenal target Kepa Arrizabalaga

Andoni Iraola spoke about Kepa Arrizabalaga in May and confirmed that he wants the goalkeeper to stay at AFC Bournemouth. He said the negotiations with Chelsea will play a key role in the Spaniard's future. Iraola said (via Metro):

"I think it is a matter of negotiating with Kepa himself and with Chelsea. I think both sides are very happy with his loan spell. I think he has performed really well, and his character and experience have been very valuable for us."

He added:

"In a really young team, to have someone with his experience of fighting regularly for titles has been really lovely. But we still have Neto, [Mark] Travers and [Alex] Paulsen, so we will see in pre-season what decisions we take. There will definitely be changes in that position though, yes."

The Gunners see Kepa Arrizabalaga as a replacement for Neto, who was signed on loan for the 2024-25 season. They are looking for a second goalkeeper who can play backup to David Raya at the club, after selling Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton last summer.
