Ruben Amorim's team registered a 7-1 aggregate win against Athletic in their UEFA Europa League semi-final tie. They eased past the La Liga side 4-1 in the second leg clash after a brace from Mount and one goal each from Casemiro and Hojlund.

After the end of the second leg, Hojlund was asked to share his thoughts on Mount following the ex-Chelsea midfielder's great performance from the bench. He said (h/t Manchester Evening News):

"I'm very pleased for him. He's one of my very good friends in this team. We both came in the same summer and had a very good connection ever since. He's a good lad. He's always working very hard."

Hojlund, who scored his goal in the 85th minute against Athletic, added:

"He's been getting a lot of stick because he's had a couple of injuries, but he's always been positive, trying to help and trying to get fit all the time. He's only had one goal, to get back on the pitch and yeah, do what he did today."

Mount, who left Chelsea in a deal worth up to £60 million in the summer of 2023, has netted three goals in 22 total games for his club this term.

Opining on Manchester United's second leg display, Hojlund remarked:

"I think there was good control, even though they got an early goal. I don't think they played well in the first half and obviously they got the goal, a great goal on their side. We were still in the game and had a couple of chances in the first half, but as soon as we got the first goal in the second half, I think we were cruising after that."
