"I talked to my family" - Manchester City star Ederson provides update on his future at the club amid exit links

Ederson has confirmed that he will stay at Manchester City this season amid speculation about a potential transfer. The Brazilian goalkeeper, who has two years left on his contract at the Etihad, has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League clubs Al Ittihad and Al Nassr.

Since arriving at City from Benfica in 2017, Ederson has gone to create a name for himself at the Etihad, helping City win multiple trophies. The 30-year-old has won six Premier League, two FA Cup and one Champions League, among others, and also won the Copa America with Brazil in 2019.

Amid interest from Middle-East clubs, City boss Pep Guardiola said he would love for Ederson to continue at the club, as he considers him important to the team but won't force him to stay if he chooses to leave.

In what will be a joyous news for Manchester City fans, the 30-year-old has chosen to stay at the club. Ederson said (via ESPN Brasil):

“It’s over. I spoke with some players, the coach, director, everyone. I talked to my family, and it was a joint decision. We’ll stay more years at City.
"The media says many things, sometimes inventing a little more. But I’ve already decided my future, especially after the conversation I had with Guardiola. This season, I’m totally focused at City with my teammates in search of more titles.’’

Meanwhile, before Ederson poured cold water on reports linking him to the Middle East club. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had said that the Brazilian moving to Al Ittihad was not going to happen after the club signed Predrag Rajkovic from Mallorca.

Pep Guardiola says Ederson is Manchester City’s best penalty taker following Community Shield triumph

Guardiola was full of praise for the Brazilian, saying he's the 'best' penalty taker in the team. He said via (The Independent):

“He is our best penalty taker,” said Guardiola, "along with Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne.”

Manuel Akanji narrowed it down further:

Manchester City will next be in action against Chelsea on Saturday (August 17) in their Premier League opener.
