Gabriel Magalhaes has admitted that he wants Real Madrid star Rodrygo to join him at Arsenal. He believes that the forward is a phenomenal player.
Speaking on Podpah Podcast recently, Gabriel stated that he was aware of the Rodrygo to Arsenal rumors and admitted that if it were up to him, he would sign the 24-year-old. He said (via METRO):
"I don't. No, I don't, not really. But I'd like obviously. Rodrygo is a phenomenon, for me. He's not at Arsenal… If it depended on me, I've told people already, he's a phenomenon. His name is mentioned a lot. If it was up to me, of course."
Rodrygo's future at the Santiago Bernabeu hangs in the balance after Xabi Alonso was appointed the club's new manager. However, Alonso has spoken about the Brazilian in glowing terms and claimed that the club needs him.
"Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player, and I will speak with everyone who is part of Real Madrid. Rodrygo is a spectacular player and we will need him. He deserves it, and so do we," the Spaniard said in a recent press conference.
Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Rodrygo as they look to bolster their squad. However, they would need to persuade the forward to leave the Santiago Bernabeu as he reportedly wants to fight for his place under Alonso.
When former player urged Arsenal to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid
Emmanuel Petit spoke to Genting Casino in 2024 and urged Mikel Arteta to sign Rodrygo. He claimed that the Brazilian was ideal for the Gunners and highly underrated at the Santiago Bernabeu. Petit said (via GOAL):
"He has so much quality, and I have always said he will be such a great player for them. If they cannot sign Williams, Arsenal need to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid as he's so underrated and gets overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. He reminds me a bit of Sylvain Wiltord when I was at Arsenal. I really think he would be a star at the Emirates and be an amazing player who can play across all three positions across the front line."
He added:
"I know he was asked about Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. the other day and he responded: 'I am Rodrygo, look at what I did last season?' This guy is so underrated and perhaps he feels like he is being overshadowed at Real Madrid. In any case, he could be an absolute superstar for Arsenal and I rate him very much. He scores goals, gives assists and gives great energy on the pitch."
Real Madrid have reportedly slapped a €100 million price tag on the Brazilian. The Spanish giants are open to selling the winger if he wants to leave this summer.
